Flu Vaccine For 65 And Older

Influenza is an acute and highly contagious viral infection. Persons 65 years and older are at higher risk of developing serious influenza (flu) complications compared to younger, healthy adults and bear the highest burden of severe flu. It is estimated that in recent years, 70 to 85% of seasonal flu-related deaths and 50
to 70% of seasonal flu related hospitalizations have been in the 65 and older age group.

Vaccination is considered the best approach to lower the risk of severe flu illness and resulting complications. This study is evaluating the efficacy, safety and immune response of an approved flu vaccine compared to a conventional marketed flu vaccine.
